Curtain Call | 2024 | Micron, Graphite and Charcoal
I wanted this piece to show personal growth in my life in ways such as my social anxiety and confidence.
The curtains being pulled back represent me showing more of myself and coming into myself more. The knife is from my job at a concert venue which has helped me be more confident in my voice and my actions, and the rose and candle relate to my family and loved ones, as they have been there for me and helped push me to be who I am now.
On top of this, skulls symbolize death; in other ways, they can also represent change and rebirth, which I feel is very fitting for this piece.

This piece is meant to represent who I am as a person, someone who is curious and surrounded by things and people that bring me comfort, lavender, and water that moves like clouds.
In this piece, I used pen as my medium. This allowed for delicate line work and solid contrast. And I felt that it was meaningful in the piece itself. This piece is about identity. And, every line, even the flawed ones, is meant to be accepted as a whole.
